Your best value gateway to University
The Student Services Officer is always available to help you with any problem and to provide you with practical advice. She can offer help with accommodation matters, medical requirements, financial planning, visa renewals, social and leisure activities and personal problems of any nature.
You will be registered with our college doctor upon arrival. Free medical consultations are available on the National Health Service if you are registered on a course of six months or longer and medicines are free if you are under 18. If you are aged 19 – 21, you may also obtain free medicines by applying for a student certificate of exemption from charges.
Dental treatment is subsidised for all full-time students and appointments may be made through the Student Services Officer.
Medical insurance is usually only necessary if you have an ongoing medical condition and may require urgent treatment on a private basis or if you are enrolled on a course for less than 6 months.
Oxford has excellent hospitals and as a leading medical centre has expertise in all areas. If you need to be admitted to hospital, treatment is free on the National Health Service.
Abacus really stands out as being different from other colleges …
Firstly, the location … it’s just perfect being situated right in the heart of Oxford city, with everything you need on your doorstep.
Secondly, the teachers. At Abacus you really do feel well looked after – all my teachers and the staff in the office are all so friendly and approachable!
I will really miss Abacus when I finish my course here this summer!
